What it brings to the back bar.
ZANIN 1895 Sambuca is transparent and colourless, with an intense, enveloping star anise aroma and hints of pepper and woody notes. Its botanical base includes star anise, green anise, fennel seeds, eucalyptus, mint, Roman wormwood and pepper.
The taste is sweet and velvety, carried by bold star anise with herbal, spicy and sharp notes. The aftertaste is long-lasting, with deeply persistent aromatic sweetness.
Sambuca follows a more complex Zanin process: after maceration, the botanicals are distilled to obtain a crystal-clear, superior-quality product. That clarity and aromatic precision make it a strong digestivo and coffee-occasion listing.
Elsa Buffa & the Caproni 133
The bespoke UK label connects Sambuca to Elsa Buffa and the Caproni 133. Buffa was the first female aviator from the Triveneto region of Italy, giving the bottle a pioneering flight story that mirrors Sambuca’s clarity and precision.
This bespoke UK label system was developed to give each Zanin product a specific cultural narrative, making the range more memorable on shelf, in menu copy and in customer conversations.
